Department Committees
Academic Affairs Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Follow up on students’ academic movement requests (re-enrollment, additional opportunities, course add/drop for visiting students inside and outside the university).
- Follow up on student transfer processes to and from the college or between departments, in coordination with the Academic Affairs Unit at the college.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit a monthly report to the Head of Department on the committee’s work.
- Submit a final report at the end of each semester on the committee’s work.
- Submit an annual report at the end of the academic year to the Head of Department, indicating any problems faced by the committee and how they were resolved.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Scheduling and Field Training Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Design a database of the department’s faculty members.
- Design a database of classrooms assigned to the department within the college.
- Prepare the department’s class schedules and coordinate with other departments and colleges offering courses in the department/college, as well as with the Deanship of Admission and Registration regarding schedules and section linking.
- Record the number of students expected to register for the field training course at the beginning of each semester.
- Follow up on students’ training placements and ensure commencement in cooperation with the College Field Training Committee.
- Monitor the closing of training, completion of evaluation, and receipt of all related forms.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit a monthly report to the Head of Department on the committee’s work.
- Submit a final report at the end of each semester on the committee’s work.
- Submit an annual report at the end of the academic year to the Head of Department, indicating any problems faced by the committee and how they were resolved.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Examinations Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Oversee midterm and final examinations, re-grading, and alternative exams in collaboration with the College Examination Unit.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit a monthly report to the Head of Department on the committee’s work.
- Submit a final report at the end of each semester on the committee’s work.
- Submit an annual report at the end of the academic year to the Head of Department, indicating any problems faced by the committee and how they were resolved.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
E-Learning Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Monitor faculty members’ commitment to educational activities on the Blackboard system for both traditional and online courses, in coordination with the College E-Learning and Distance Education Unit.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit a monthly report to the Head of Department on the committee’s work.
- Submit a final report at the end of each semester on the committee’s work.
- Submit an annual report at the end of the academic year to the Head of Department, indicating any problems faced by the committee and how they were resolved.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Activities and Events Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Participate in organizing cultural and scientific events within the college by identifying student talents, nurturing them, and selecting suitable faculty members to participate in events aligned with their expertise, in coordination with the College Events Committee and the Deanship of Student Affairs.
- Raise students’ intellectual and cultural awareness, enhance their academic and behavioral standards, and promote organizational citizenship aligned with Saudi Vision 2030.
- Participate in organizing college activities in coordination with the College Events Committee and the Deanship of Student Affairs.
- Strengthen ties between students and faculty members to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and experience.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit a monthly report to the Head of Department on the committee’s work.
- Submit a final report at the end of each semester on the committee’s work.
Scientific Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Review faculty promotion applications, ensuring eligibility and research quality, and submit recommendations to the Head of Department.
- Review faculty research proposals for methodology, relevance to their specialization, appropriateness of research tools, and statistical methods.
- Review faculty requests to adopt their publications as course references in coordination with the Curriculum and Program Committee, and submit to the Head of Department.
- Review scientific distinction requests from faculty and submit recommendations.
- Set the department’s research plan and monitor its implementation.
- Review applications of faculty and equivalents applying for department vacancies.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Graduate Studies Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Develop and periodically update a database of scholarship students in the department.
- Follow up on scholarship students’ cases, responding to requests and inquiries.
- Review and decide on scholarship applications, extensions, and terminations, and submit recommendations.
- Supervise graduate programs academically and administratively to ensure quality education.
- Oversee graduate research projects, including reviewing submitted proposals.
- Review and update the department’s graduate student orientation program regularly.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester and monitor execution.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Academic Advising Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Develop an annual academic advising plan and supervise implementation.
- Organize and oversee add/drop and section adjustments in coordination with the College Academic and Student Advising Unit.
- Assign students to faculty advisors.
- Provide faculty and students with information on study and examination regulations (e.g., withdrawal, absence, grading policies).
- Identify academically struggling students, determine causes, provide solutions, and monitor implementation with advisors and the College Advising Unit.
- Identify outstanding students, encourage them, and support talented students in coordination with advisors and the College Advising Unit.
- Provide psychological and social support to students through advisors and the College Advising Unit.
- Prepare an executive plan at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Quality and Accreditation Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Develop and document the department’s quality assurance system in coordination with the College Quality and Accreditation Unit.
- Review program/course descriptions to ensure alignment with Education and Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) standards.
- Monitor faculty compliance with preparing course reports and files according to ETEC templates, and provide the Quality Unit with necessary documentation.
- Update performance indicators and benchmarking reports in coordination with the College Quality Unit.
- Ensure exam quality standards and alignment with course learning outcomes.
- Implement periodic program learning outcomes assessment and related reports.
- Execute program improvement plans required for accreditation, responding to ETEC inquiries and requirements in coordination with the College Quality Unit.
- Continuously update the department’s handbook.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Strategic Plan Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Continuously review and update the department’s vision, mission, objectives, and values to align with the college’s strategic plan.
- Continuously review and update the vision, mission, and objectives of the Business Administration Program to align with the department/college strategic plan.
- Develop and monitor the department’s annual implementation plan.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Curriculum and Programs Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Propose new undergraduate or graduate programs that align with labor market needs, in consultation with students, employers, faculty, and academic experts via surveys.
- Prepare program/course descriptions according to ETEC standards in coordination with the College Quality Unit.
- Review and update curricula and course descriptions.
- Ensure each course has up-to-date and sufficient references.
- Review faculty requests to update course references.
- Provide faculty with regulations and guidelines on curriculum development.
- Prepare an executive plan for the committee’s work at the beginning of each semester.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
- Carry out any other tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
Alumni Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Create and update a database of employers and available job opportunities, sharing it with the College Alumni Unit regularly.
- Participate in organizing alumni events and activities in coordination with the College Alumni Unit to strengthen ties with graduates.
- Prepare an executive plan each semester aligned with the College Alumni Unit’s priorities.
- Submit monthly and semester reports to the Head of Department, with copies to the College Alumni Unit.
- Submit an annual report evaluating activities, challenges, and solutions, with a copy to the College Alumni Unit.
- Carry out tasks assigned by the Head of Department or the College Alumni Unit.
Monitoring and Evaluation Committee
Committee Tasks:
- Promote a culture of quality assessment and evaluation to improve teaching and learning.
- Implement and monitor the faculty performance evaluation system.
- Design and develop modern evaluation tools and methods.
- Review and analyze exam questions, preparing reports.
- Develop improvement plans based on evaluation results.
- Set program performance indicators and implement benchmarking.
- Coordinate continuously with the College Measurement and Evaluation Unit.
- Carry out tasks assigned by the Head of Department.
- Submit monthly, semester, and annual reports to the Head of Department, including challenges and solutions.
