Committees of the Department of Law

Committee Duties and Responsibilities:

The Committee shall undertake the following tasks in relation to academic advising:

  1. To coordinate with the College Advising Unit before the beginning of each semester by providing the names and contact details of faculty members assigned to advise new students in the Law Program, along with the proposed number of students per advisor.

  2. To organize an orientation meeting at the beginning of each semester to introduce new students to university life, the academic regulations, and the professional fields expected for graduates of the Law Program.

  3. To cooperate with the College Advising Unit in providing advising tools from their sources within the University and distributing them to advisors, including: the University Handbook; Study and Examination Regulations; Student Disciplinary Regulations; Student صندوق Regulations; Academic and Student Advising Guide; College Handbook; Deanship of Student Affairs Guide; Admission and Registration Guide; copies of Admission and Registration forms; copies of Student Affairs forms; and copies of advising forms.

  4. To organize an advising program to prepare students for examinations well in advance of each semester’s exams, such as lectures on review skills, exam preparation, exam paper management, test anxiety, and studying under time pressure.

  5. To organize training courses, sessions, workshops, and lectures to equip students with skills that support academic success and excellence, develop their abilities, and protect them from potential risks. These may include improving textbook reading skills, time management, study skills, self-discipline and self-confidence, effective lecture utilization, note-taking and summarizing skills, enhancing attention and concentration, and managing psychological crises and stress.

  6. To identify and follow up academically outstanding students at the end of each academic year, encourage them to maintain excellence, and assist them in resolving academic and personal issues through academic advisors.

  7. To identify and follow up academically struggling students at the end of each semester, and to hold group advising sessions in coordination with the University Academic and Student Advising Center to boost their morale, encourage improvement, warn them of potential academic risks if underperformance continues, and assist them in resolving academic and personal issues through academic advisors.

  8. To provide and distribute (in both printed and electronic formats) the relevant forms of the Deanship of Admission and Registration, the Deanship of Student Affairs, and the University Academic and Student Advising Center, as well as any other forms that contribute to students’ academic stability.

  9. To facilitate, monitor, and resolve communication issues between students and academic advisors by ensuring advisors’ office hours are clearly scheduled and announced, and that advisors provide their official university email addresses for communication.

  10. To assist students in resolving psychological and social issues that directly affect their academic achievement.

  11. To help students make effective use of the resources and methods provided by the University to support academic attainment.

  12. To assist students with all matters related to course registration, add and drop procedures.

  13. To compile and process various academic cases of male and female students, including:

  • Non-regular withdrawal requests, re-enrollment, and requests to suspend studies.

  • Requests for additional study opportunities after the expiration of the official study period, or dismissal due to academic warnings.

  • Requests to withdraw a semester, transfer from outside the University, and add/drop requests.

  1. To follow up on automated registration procedures for male and female students in cooperation with the Deanship of Admission and Registration, and to resolve any issues that may arise during the registration process.

  2. To receive all other student cases, attempt to find appropriate solutions, or refer them to the competent authorities within the Deanship (such as the Student Advising Unit) or the University.

  3. To submit periodic reports at the end of each semester and academic year, including activities accomplished, strengths and weaknesses, needs, and recommendations.

Committee Duties and Responsibilities:

The Committee shall undertake the following tasks:

  • To raise awareness among faculty and staff of best practices related to the standards of the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA).

  • To collaborate in organizing meetings, lectures, and seminars, and in preparing manuals and other materials related to quality assurance and academic accreditation.

  • To ensure the preparation of program and course specifications in accordance with the templates of the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Assessment.

  • To ensure the preparation and completion of course reports.

  • To identify and propose performance indicators relevant to the standards.

  • To form internal subcommittees to carry out tasks related to quality assurance and accreditation within the program.

  • To implement assessment tools to measure the quality of academic programs and courses, the quality of teaching processes, and the services provided to students, in accordance with the required standards, guidelines, indicators, and supporting evidence.

  • To fulfill all essential accreditation requirements and implement the self-evaluation plan for quality assurance at the program level.

  • To provide evidence and documentation related to the standards, prepare standard files, and document, classify, and organize them according to established practices.

  • To prepare benchmarking comparisons for various performance indicators.

  • To prepare quality assurance and evaluation reports and submit them to the College Quality and Academic Accreditation Committee.

  • To submit recommendations to the Department Council based on report findings and ensure the implementation of improvement and development plans.

  • To prepare the program’s annual report.

  • Planning and Conducting the Self-Study.

  • To complete the program’s self-assessment measurement documents through the standards committees within the program.

  • To prepare the self-study report to meet academic accreditation standards.

  • To prepare for and participate in internal and external review visits.

Committee Duties and Responsibilities:

The Committee shall undertake the following tasks:

  1. To implement the policies, regulations, instructions, and decisions related to examinations.

  2. To coordinate with other college committees regarding all matters related to the examination process.

  3. To receive final exam questions from course coordinators in sealed envelopes and deliver them to the committee member responsible for supervision in the examination hall.

  4. To coordinate with committee members in the female student section regarding final exams.

  5. To supervise and carry out the tasks assigned to the committee and provide recommendations regarding examinations to enhance the performance level of the Law Program.

  6. To hold regular meetings with Examination Committee members to discuss the necessary arrangements for conducting exams.

  7. To prepare and organize decisions regarding the scheduling of periodic exams in coordination with the Department Chair and submit them to the College Vice Dean for approval by the Dean.

  8. To prepare invigilation schedules and supervise periodic and final exams for all Law Program students.

  9. To ensure the complete preparation of all exam requirements, including answer sheets, exam supplies, and arranging the smooth conduct of exams.

  10. To ensure examination halls are ready for the tests.

  11. To supervise the conduct of exams and ensure they start on time.

  12. To supervise the presence of invigilators and committee heads in the examination halls.

  13. To post exam rosters outside halls daily well before the start of the exams.

  14. To ensure absentee records are prepared for students missing exams, and to obtain signatures from invigilators and the committee head.

  15. To retain a copy of course results after approval by the Department Chair.

  16. To receive answer booklets from instructors and store them in a designated repository for two academic semesters.

  17. To prepare final examination reports and results and submit them to the Department Chair, who will forward them to the College Vice Dean and then to the Dean.

  18. To prepare alternative exams after approval of absence excuses by the competent councils.

  19. To follow up on grade change forms for all students, review them, and ensure approval by the Department Chair.

  20. To ensure the examination policy is applied and to perform any additional tasks assigned by the Department Chair or related to the committee’s responsibilities.

  21. To submit to the Quality Committee in the department the mechanisms for applying examination policies at the end of each semester for submission to the College Quality Unit.

Committee Duties and Responsibilities:

The Committee shall undertake the following tasks:

  1. To prepare an annual plan that includes objectives, timelines, responsible persons, and budget.

  2. To ensure that each graduate has completed all graduation requirements in coordination with the College Graduates Unit.

  3. To participate in the graduation ceremony alongside the Quality Unit and prepare the Graduates’ Handbook for the Law Program.

  4. To compile annual statistics of program graduates and create a dedicated database for easy communication with them.

  5. To establish a database of the workplaces of program graduates.

  6. To maintain and strengthen communication with graduates, enhancing their skills through training courses in collaboration with the Training Committee.

  7. To host distinguished graduates in seminars and celebrations to share their experiences with current students.

  8. To collaborate with the Measurement and Evaluation Committee in assessing employers’ satisfaction with graduates’ job performance.

  9. To prepare a quarterly report on the plan, including achievement rates, strengths, areas needing improvement, and improvement plans, and to provide copies of these reports to the Quality Committee after approval.

 

Committee Duties and Responsibilities:

The Committee shall undertake the following tasks:

  1. To prepare an annual plan that includes objectives, timelines, and responsible persons for implementation.

  2. To propose programs, lectures, meetings, discussion sessions, training courses, community partnerships, and similar initiatives that allow the community to benefit from the expertise of Law Program faculty and staff.

  3. To hold meetings addressing issues related to legal disciplines that serve the community, with the approval of the competent authority.

  4. To organize, monitor, and document community service activities in the Law Program and work on their development.

  5. To evaluate the Law Program’s participation in community service activities and events using electronic surveys.

  6. To encourage Law Program members to participate in community service activities by organizing meetings and workshops to explore ways to activate the program’s role in serving the community.

  7. To prepare certificates for community service activities conducted by the Law Program.

  8. To coordinate with the College Student Affairs Committee to participate in various student activities.

  9. To organize scientific and recreational trips for Law Program students and faculty members.

  10. To nominate Law Program students and faculty members to participate in various cultural and scientific events inside and outside the university.

  11. To organize field visits for Law Program students to relevant institutions related to their academic disciplines, such as courts, notary offices, and others.

  12. To organize general cultural and social lectures and conduct training courses for Law Program students to develop their skills.

  13. To contribute to organizing the year-end closing ceremony for student activities in the Law Program.

  14. To prepare a quarterly report including achievement rates, strengths, areas needing improvement, and improvement plans, and provide copies to the Program Quality Committee after approval.

  15. To serve as a liaison between the Department, students, and the community.

  16. To identify training needs for all department members, including faculty, administrative staff, and students.

  17. To prepare a training plan based on the identified needs, including objectives, implementation methods, timelines, and responsible persons.

  18. To implement the training plan within the specified timeframe.

  19. To prepare quarterly reports on training plan progress, including strengths, weaknesses, and improvement plans, and submit them to the Department Quality Committee.

  20. To propose non-curricular programs, lectures, meetings, discussion sessions, training courses, and community partnerships that benefit the Law Program faculty members.

  21. To hold faculty meetings addressing issues related to legal disciplines, with the approval of the competent authority.

  22. To organize, monitor, and document community service activities provided by Law Program faculty members and work on their development.

  23. To evaluate faculty participation in community service activities through electronic surveys.

  24. To encourage Law Program faculty members to participate in community service activities.

  25. To prepare certificates for community service activities conducted by Law Program faculty members.

  26. To organize scientific and recreational trips for Law Program faculty members.

  27. To nominate faculty members for participation in various cultural and scientific events inside and outside the university.

  28. To contribute to organizing the year-end closing ceremony for faculty members in the Law Program.

  29. To prepare a quarterly report including achievement rates, strengths, areas needing improvement, and improvement plans, and provide copies to the Program Quality Committee after approval.

  30. To announce programs and activities and publish department news through official channels.

  31. To serve as a liaison between the Department and Law Program faculty members.

  32. To provide support and assistance to faculty members in exceptional circumstances they may encounter.

  33. To provide support and guidance to new Law Program faculty members to facilitate their integration into the program.

Committee Duties and Responsibilities:

The Committee shall undertake the following tasks:

  1. To compile and manage various academic cases of students, including:

    • Non-regular withdrawal requests, re-enrollment, and requests to suspend studies.

    • Requests for additional study opportunities in cases of exceeding the official study period or dismissal due to warnings.
