An awareness seminar at the College of Applied Medical Sciences, Jouf University, titled: “Intellectual Awareness in Clinical Practice with Persons with Disabilities
The College of Applied Medical Sciences at Jouf University, in collaboration with the University’s Intellectual Awareness Department, organized an awareness seminar titled “Intellectual Awareness in Clinical Practice with Persons with Disabilities.” The event was attended by a number of faculty members, students, and other interested participants, as part of the college’s efforts to promote professional and community awareness and to strengthen human values in healthcare practice.
The seminar was held as part of ongoing efforts to highlight the importance of aware and responsible clinical practice with persons with disabilities, and to emphasize respect for their rights, privacy, and individual needs. It also sought to reinforce the principles of effective communication and ethical professional practice in healthcare settings.
Awareness themes that promote professional and human values
The seminar included a number of important awareness topics, most notably the concept of disability, the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, respect for the privacy and autonomy of persons with disabilities, and the language of effective communication. These themes were intended to enhance the participants’ professional and human understanding and to improve the quality of interaction with this group in the clinical context.
Academic contributions to providing rich awareness content
The seminar was delivered by Dr. Ammar bin Mohammed Al-Abbad, Vice Dean for Educational Affairs, and Dr. Turrad Al-Sharari, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Rehabilitation. It was moderated by Dr. Sulaiman bin Awad Al-Enezi, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy and Health Rehabilitation, whose contributions helped provide rich awareness content that combined both the professional and human dimensions.
Audience engagement reflects the importance of awareness and inclusion
The seminar also witnessed notable engagement from the audience through discussions and interventions that reflected the importance of this type of awareness program in building a more inclusive healthcare environment that respects the rights of persons with disabilities, while also supporting students’ and practitioners’ awareness of the best professional approaches in this area.
This seminar comes as part of the efforts of the College of Applied Medical Sciences to activate purposeful awareness programs and strengthen its academic and community role in spreading knowledge and promoting the principles of inclusion and professional respect, in a manner consistent with the University’s mission and its community service orientation.
