The College of Dentistry Obtains Full International Accreditation from the German Agency
The College of Dentistry at Jouf University has achieved a significant academic milestone by obtaining full international programmatic accreditation from the German Accreditation Agency for Study Programs in Health and Social Sciences (AHPGS) for both the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and the Master of Science in Prosthodontics programs, for a period of five years. This achievement reflects the College’s strong commitment to implementing the highest internationally recognized standards of quality assurance and academic accreditation.
This accreditation is considered one of the most prominent European quality assurance accreditations for higher education programs. It is based on a comprehensive framework of rigorous standards that emphasize the quality of teaching and learning, curriculum effectiveness, alignment of learning outcomes with labor market needs, faculty qualifications, availability of educational and clinical infrastructure, effectiveness of assessment systems, and sustainability of continuous improvement processes.
The accreditation process also includes evaluation of the educational and research environment, the level of academic and student support, integration of clinical education, academic governance, and adherence to professional and research ethics. These elements collectively ensure the graduation of scientifically and professionally competent graduates who are capable of competing at both local and international levels.
The Dean of the College, Dr. Hamoud bin Ali Al-Qarni, affirmed that this achievement represents the culmination of integrated institutional efforts, including the development of curricula in line with the latest global standards in dental education, enhancement of competency-based education, improvement of clinical training quality, support for scientific research, and implementation of best practices in quality assurance and academic accreditation.
Obtaining this international accreditation embodies the College’s strategic vision to achieve national and international leadership in dental education and research, and to develop competitive academic programs that contribute to preparing distinguished healthcare professionals capable of actively advancing the healthcare sector and serving the community.
This achievement comes within the framework of the unwavering support provided by the leadership of Jouf University, represented by His Excellency the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, and reflects the University’s continuous commitment to enhancing the quality of education and strengthening its position in international rankings and accreditation systems.
Furthermore, this accreditation aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in its focus on advancing higher education, improving educational outcomes, enhancing the efficiency of the healthcare sector, and building a knowledge-based economy driven by innovation and scientific research, thereby strengthening the Kingdom’s regional and global competitiveness.
His Excellency also emphasized that achieving such accreditations serves as a strong motivation to continue the journey of development and continuous improvement, further advancing academic and research excellence, strengthening international partnerships, and fulfilling the aspirations of the University and its affiliates, in the service of the Al-Jouf region and the Kingdom as a whole.
