The first place in the Graduation Research Projects Forum and Scientific Poster Exhibition was awarded to a research project by the college students Donya bint Khalaf Al-Shammari, Omnia bint Hamed Al-Ruwaili, and Hala bint Nasser Al-Darbas.
The project was supervised by Dr. Badr bin Bukhait Al-Zahrani and focused on studying selected trace elements related to type 2 diabetes mellitus by measuring zinc and copper levels in patients and comparing them with non-diabetics, with the aim of identifying imbalance between them and its impact on disease control and its complications.
Second place went to a research project on supporting the spine while sitting
Second place in the Graduation Research Projects Forum and Scientific Poster Exhibition was awarded to a research project by students of the College of Applied Medical Sciences: Jumana bint Lahim Al-Lahim, Reema bint Abdullah Al-Suhiyan, and Raghad bint Naif Al-Anzi.
The project, supervised by Dr. Hadeel bint Saad Al-Sarhani, examined the effect of using a lumbar-supporting cushion while sitting, compared to usual sitting, on upper trunk muscle activity, standing balance, and the perceived level of discomfort among young women.
The study results showed that using this cushion helps reduce shoulder muscle activity, improve balance, and decrease feelings of discomfort and fatigue during prolonged sitting, highlighting its importance as a supportive solution for musculoskeletal health.
Third place went to a research project on inflammatory markers in heart diseases
Third place in the Graduation Research Projects Forum and Scientific Poster Exhibition was awarded to a research project by students of the College of Applied Medical Sciences: Futoon bint Nayel Al-Shammari, Aryam bint Suwailm Al-Ruwaili, Aryaf bint Halil Al-Ruwaili, and Shomoukh bint Hamad Al-Fuhaigi.
