World Diabetes Day activities at the College of Applied Medical Sciences
The College of Applied Medical Sciences, represented by the Department of Clinical Laboratory Sciences, organized a series of awareness activities in celebration of World Diabetes Day. These efforts come as part of the college’s role in promoting health awareness among university members and the wider community, and in highlighting the importance of prevention and early detection of the disease.
Diabetes awareness – prevention and treatment pathways
The college held an event titled “Diabetes Awareness – Pathways of Prevention and Treatment” on campus, which included a specialized lecture in the college auditorium presenting the latest information on risk factors, prevention methods, and modern treatments. The college lobby also featured several interactive stations offering basic medical screenings such as blood glucose and blood pressure measurements, in addition to distributing educational leaflets aimed at promoting health awareness among students and staff.
Diabetes and the work environment
As part of expanding community engagement, the department organized another event at one of the region’s commercial malls under the theme “Diabetes and the Workplace,” with active participation from master’s students. The event included medical screenings for visitors, as well as awareness stations that emphasized the importance of adopting a healthy work environment that supports diabetes prevention and reduces its complications. Informational brochures were also distributed to attendees.
Enhancing the College’s Community Role
These activities reflect the College of Applied Medical Sciences' commitment to supporting national efforts to raise health awareness and promote a culture of prevention, while empowering its students to actively participate in community-based applied activities.
