The College of Business, represented by the Department of Accounting, organized a panel discussion entitled “Internal Audit: Enhancing Governance” in celebration of International Internal Audit Awareness Day 2025, targeting students of the college.
The discussion was led by Dr. Khaled bin Hamadan Al-Shammari, Head of the Department of Finance and Investment, who addressed several key topics, most notably the renaming of the “Saudi Association of Internal Auditors” to the “Saudi Authority of Internal Auditors,” in addition to the transfer of internal audit licensing authority from the Ministry of Commerce to the new Authority — a move that reinforces the professionalism and independence of the sector. The discussion also emphasized the vital role of internal auditing in enhancing institutional governance and transparency.
Mr. Mohammed bin Talaihan Al-Shammari, Director of Internal Audit at the University and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), also participated in the session. He shared valuable field insights focusing on the importance of professional certifications in elevating the performance of internal auditors and ensuring the quality of audit processes.
The session concluded with an open discussion, allowing participants to exchange experiences and insights.
This event came as part of the College’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about the roles of internal auditing and to promote a culture of professionalism among its students.
