President of Jouf University Receives the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Qurayyat, Along with the Vice Deans and Department Heads, Praising the College’s Achievements in Scientific Research and Innovation
His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Professor Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, received the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Qurayyat, along with the vice deans and department heads, to review the college’s annual report for the academic year 1446 AH. The report highlighted the college’s distinguished accomplishments across academic, research, and community domains, reflected in academic accreditations, research and innovation excellence, and impactful community programs.
Professor Al-Shaya praised the college for achieving a prestigious global standing in academic rankings, noting that all three of its academic programs — Nursing, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, and Physical Therapy — obtained full national accreditation, reflecting the high quality of its curricula, teaching, and infrastructure. The college also updated its study plans and learning environment to ensure that its programs remain aligned with labor market needs and accreditation standards.
In the area of scientific research, the college faculty published 73 research papers with 1,420 citations, including 38 papers in Q1-ranked journals and 18 among the top 10% most-cited papers, demonstrating a significant leap in research quality. Additionally, the college registered an international patent with the UK Intellectual Property Office for an AI-based device for colorectal cancer detection, and has two additional patents pending registration.


The report also highlighted a notable research award earned by the college during the reporting period — an Innovation Award for a project utilizing virtual reality technology to improve mobility in stroke patients, granted at the 4th International Conference of the Saudi Physical Therapy Association, in collaboration with the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute at King Saud University.
In terms of community engagement, the college organized 37 health and awareness activities, with faculty members contributing 7,885 volunteer hours and students recording 11,815 hours, reflecting a strong commitment to social responsibility goals.
The report also indicated strong labor-market alignment, with the Nursing Program achieving a 94% employment rate, while the Clinical Laboratory and Physical Therapy Programs recorded 11.1% and 25%, respectively. Furthermore, women held 50% of leadership positions, and 18 academic positions were successfully localized, demonstrating the college’s commitment to empowerment and nationalization.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Professor Al-Shaya commended the college’s achievements, emphasizing that they reflect the collective efforts of its faculty and staff and represent a major step forward in strengthening the university’s standing as a national model that meets global standards in education, research, innovation, and community service.
For her part, the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Qurayyat expressed her sincere appreciation to the University President for his continuous support, reaffirming the college’s dedication to sustaining excellence and achieving the goals of the university’s strategic plan in line with the aspirations of Saudi Vision 2030.
