Under the Patronage and in the Presence of the University President, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, Jouf University Celebrates the President’s Award for Excellence 2025
Under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency the President of Jouf University, Prof. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, the University held the first edition of the President’s Award for Excellence 2025. The ceremony marked a distinguished institutional occasion that embodied a culture of excellence, celebrated achievement, and showcased outstanding models of academic and administrative contribution reflecting the University’s growing national and international standing.
In his speech, His Excellency affirmed that the Award represents a strategic qualitative initiative stemming from the University’s mission to institutionalize excellence, foster a culture of creativity and innovation, and stimulate positive competitive performance across its sectors. This aligns with the University’s strategic plan and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 in building a competitive knowledge-based economy, enhancing quality of life, and developing human capital.
He further emphasized that the Award is not merely a concluding milestone to celebrate accomplishments, but rather a launching platform toward sustained institutional leadership. He noted that leadership is a responsibility, excellence is a strategic choice, and true achievement is what leaves a lasting impact on students, the community, and the University’s image.
The Award aimed to support high-quality international partnerships, stimulate innovation and patent registration, promote a culture of institutional excellence, encourage impactful initiatives, highlight achievements in local and regional awards, enhance investment and endowments, and strengthen digital and media presence—reflecting the integration of academic, research, and community roles.
The first edition witnessed broad participation from more than 15 university entities, with a total of 211 submissions—an indicator of the deep-rooted culture of excellence within the University and the growing institutional awareness of measuring impact and achieving competitive performance indicators.
The Innovation and Patents category recorded the highest participation rates. Officially registered patents constituted 60% of submissions, alongside 29% ready-to-implement applied innovations and 12% prototype models under development, reflecting the maturity of the innovation ecosystem and the transformation of knowledge into products with economic and intellectual impact.
In the International Agreements category, 27 agreements were concluded with leading universities and institutions in the United Kingdom, Canada, China, and the United States of America, following the completion of regulatory approvals and formal endorsement during 2025—further strengthening the University’s global presence.
In the Impactful Initiatives category, 45 initiatives were submitted by 25 entities, benefiting more than 170,000 beneficiaries. These initiatives varied across educational, community, health, digital, and scientific domains, reaffirming the University’s commitment to its developmental role.
Within the Local and Regional Awards category, 44 submissions were recorded, distributed between regional awards (52%) and local awards (48%). Meanwhile, the Digital Excellence category included 10 submissions, with 70% focused on website development and 30% on professional media content enhancement.
The Excellence in Health Specialties Examinations and Readiness Tests category featured 11 submissions. Several programs ranked among the top ten nationally, while readiness test results exceeded the national average—clearly demonstrating the quality of academic outputs and their alignment with national standards.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the winners in the various Award categories were announced, reflecting the diversity and integration of leadership pathways. The winners were:
- Innovation and Patents: College of Science; College of Applied Medical Sciences.
- International Agreements: Deanship of Student Affairs; College of Science.
- Local and Regional Awards: Community Service and Volunteer Work Administration; Deanship of Student Affairs in collaboration with the College of Computer Science and Information.
- Impactful Initiatives: “Qader… Together to Challenge Disability” Initiative – College of Applied Medical Sciences.
- Website and Media Content: College of Applied Medical Sciences; College of Applied Medical Sciences (Al-Qurayyat); College of Science.
- Excellence in Health Specialties and Readiness Test Results: Medicine and Surgery Program – College of Medicine; Computer Science Program – College of Computer Science and Information.
The ceremony concluded with honoring the winning entities in a scene that reflected the spirit of collaborative work and affirmed that Jouf University continues to move steadily toward establishing a motivating competitive environment that values achievement and celebrates creativity.
In its first edition, the Award represents a strategic step toward strengthening the University’s position in performance and excellence indicators and consolidating its status as a leading national university that actively contributes to achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 through a high-quality, innovative, and sustainable educational, research, and community ecosystem.
