The course will deal with the study of chemistry of natural products, different biosynthetic pathways of natural compounds as well as their classification including the following classes; Carbohydrates, Glycosides, Alkaloids, Volatile oils, Bitter principles. It will also cover their natural sources, different types, medicinal uses, mechanisms of action and methods of analysis (qualitative and quantitative).
