It describes the principles of modern techniques used in biomolecular diagnostics with an emphasis on biomedical molecular biology and an understanding of advanced molecular techniques for disease diagnosis, genetic mapping (genome), identification and amplification techniques used in infectious diseases, nucleic acid alteration (mutation), genetic fingerprinting, components of the molecular laboratory, and evaluation of controls to verify the validity of the results obtained.
