Course Description
This course has been designed to use a consistent, logical, and step-by-step approach to introduce students to the medical terms related to anatomy and physiology of body systems. This course covers the detailed study of medical terms of each body system, broad coverage of anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnostic procedures, treatment procedures, and pharmacology etc. This course emphasizes on building of medical terms using prefixes, root words, and suffixes and assist students to develop a full medical vocabulary pertaining to all body systems. The students will learn about building a medical vocabulary pertaining to the whole body, integumentary system, skeletal system, muscular system, nervous system, the endocrine System, cardiovascular system, the digestive system, respiratory system, lymphatic and immune system, the urinary system, and reproductive system, the Cancer (Oncology) Medicine, the Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, the Psychiatry, Pharmacology. The students will apply the knowledge of medical root words, prefixes, and suffixes to the human body systems, disease, disorders, abnormal conditions, surgical procedures, medical devices and medical specialties, medical specialists etc. Hence, this course provides detailed study of prefixes, suffixes, word roots, combining forms, special endings, plural forms, and abbreviations based on anatomy and physiology related to each of the body systems, sterilization process.
