Level/year at which this course is offered: (2) 4. Course general Description: This course gives a comprehensive introduction to sub-branches of linguistics. The course prepares students to have a basic understanding of core concepts related to phonetics, phonology, morphology, lexicology, syntax and semantics. The course specifically will deal with how sounds are produced, how they are distributed, how words and sentences are formed, and methods used in the analysis of meaning. The course also contains a discussion on linguistics schools in the twentieth century and branches of linguistics.
