Course Description
This is an essential course in the bachelor of nursing program. Students will learn basic concepts
and theories essential to the art and science of nursing, including physiological, psychosocial,
and spiritual health needs of individuals.
The aim is to equip students with a solid foundation on which they can build their technical and
interpersonal experience. The course utilizes the nursing process as the framework for caring,
and to apply the knowledge learned throughout this course. In addition, students will be
encouraged to work individually and in groups, communicate and collaborate effectively in a
simulated work-environment in the nursing skills lab. The course also serves as introductory to
the concepts of critical thinking and decision-making to guide students for safe and competent
practice.
