Projects

Ethanedihydrazide and its aromatic hydrazone derivatives as corrosion inhibitors for iron in 3.5% NaCl solutions
2020 - 2021

Ethanedihydrazide and N,N'-bis[2-methoxybenzylidene]amino]oxamide, and N,N'-bis[2-hydroxynaphthylidene]amino]oxamide, synthesized in our laboratory, were tested as inhibitors for the corrosion of iron in concentrated sodium chloride solution (3.5% NaCl) by electrochemical measurements. The hydrazide and its oxamides/hydrazones were identified on the basis of their elemental analyses, spectral (UV-Vis., IR, mass, 1H/13C NMR) measurements.

Copper(II)- 3,3′-methylenedisalicylic acid complex: structural studies, biological activity and inhibition evaluation of free methylenedisalicylic towards the corrosion of copper metal in acidic medium
2024 - 2025

Copper complex of 3,3′-methylenedisalicylic ligand have been synthesized in our laboratory. The disalicylic ligand and/or its copper chelate were characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, spectral (UV-Vis., IR, mass, 1H NMR, SEM), magnetism and thermal (TGA) measurements. The methylenedisalicylic has been suggested to coordinate to the metal center in tetradentate manner forming 2:1[M:L] complex. The prepared ligand and its metal complexes have been assayed for their biological activities to show the possibility for their uses in pharmaceutical industry.

Structural Determination, Crystallinity, Morphology and Optical Characteristics of Bis(2-hydroxy-3-carboxyphenyl)methane Ligand and Its Associated Transition Metal Complexes as well as Application of Ligand as Anti-tumor Agent towards Human Lung (A-549) and Hepatocellular (HepG-2) Carcinoma Cells
2024 - 2024

A condensation reaction of salicylic acid with formaldehyde in the presence of sulfuric acid led to the synthesization of the bis(2-hydroxy-3-carboxyphenyl)methane (BHCM) ligand, which was subsequently allowed to bind with nickel (II) ions. In light of the information obtained from the elemental analyses (C, H, and M), spectral (IR, MS, 1H-NMR, and UV–Vis) and thermal and magnetic measurements, the most likely structures of the ligand and complex have been identified.

Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) And Mn(II- ( Oxaloyldihydrazone Complexes: Spectroscopic And Electrical Conductivity Studies
2019 - 2020

Cobalt (II), nickel (II), copper (II) and manganese (II) complexes of dihydrazone derived from the condensation of oxaloyldihydrazide with 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde have been synthesized. The dihydrazone ligand / chelates were characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, spectral (UV-Vis., FT-IR, mass, 1H-NMR), magnetism, thermal (TGA) measurements and structures of the compounds have been established. The surface morphology of the desired complexes was studied by SEM.

Methylenedisalicylic acid as an antimicrobial corrosion inhibitor for aluminum in concentrated chloride solutions
2021 - 2022

Methylenedisalicylic acid, synthesized in our laboratory, was tested as an antimicrobial inhibitor for the corrosion of aluminum in concentrated sodium chloride solution by electrochemical measurements. The compound was identified on the basis of their elemental analyses, spectral (UV-Vis., IR, mass, 1H NMR) measurements. The role of separated compound on the inhibition process has been studied using various electrochemical techniques including cyclic polarization (CPP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronoamperometry (CA).

OXALHYDRAZIDE AS AN ANTIMICROBIAL CORROSION INHIBITOR FOR ALUMINUM IN ALKALINE SOLUTIONS
2024 - 2025

Oxalhydrazide was tested as an antimicrobial inhibitor for the corrosion of aluminum in potassium hydroxide solution by electrochemical measurements. The role of Oxalhydrazide on the inhibition process has been studied using various electrochemical techniques including cyclic polarization (CPP), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and chronoamperometry (CA). The cyclic potentiodynamic polarization was used to evaluate some corrosion parameters like cathodic, anodic and corrosion currents, corrosion potential, corrosion rate, and corrosion resistance of the aluminium.

ThO2 can be converted into Th(NO3)4 and purified by solvent extraction into kerosene with tributyl phosphate (TBP).
2018 - 2019

Manganese complexes of dihydrazone derived from the condensation of oxaloyldihydrazide with 2-hydroxynaphthaldehyde and 2-methoxybenzaldehyde have been synthesized. The hydrazone Schiff base ligands and their chelates were characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses, spectral (UV-Vis., IR, mass, 1H/13C NMR, SEM), magnetism, ESR and thermal (TGA) measurements. The dihydrazone has been suggested to coordinate to the metal center in bi-dentate manner forming 1:1[M:L] complex. The complexes are suggested to have tetrahedral/octahedral stereochemistry.
