Course Description
This course will provide informative knowledge on: Advanced Microbial Genetics and Technology, Plasmid Ecology, Microbiological Metabolism of Biomass (students will gain deeper insights into the sensing and regulatory mechanisms that enable microorganisms to respond to changes in cell physiology and in the environment. These principles are looked at from the point of signal reception and transduction, down to the level of the resulting transcriptional, post-transcriptional and post-translational responses and finally to the changes in cellular physiology), Bacterial toxins (The topic of bioremediation will be discussed in respect to degradation of toxic molecules, resistance to toxic metals, application of biosensors for the detection of toxic molecules), Plant-microbe interactions, DNA viruses, Herpesviruses, Adenoviruses, Pox viruses, Papilloma virus, RNA viruses, Orthomyxoviridae (Influenza virus), Paramyxoviridae (i.a. Measles virus), Picornaviridae (i.a. Foot and Mouth Disease virus), HIV virus, Hepatitis viruses.
