Abstract

Horses' owners do not have enough tools to diagnose their horses' disease without well-trained veterinarians. Horses are so precious to them that they suffer emotionally and economically if something bad happens to their horses. Health Information Technologies (HITs) offer a lot of useful tools for human to help self-diagnose and treat her/his disease, however, HITs are not enough to provide appropriate self-diagnosis ways for animals. The research suggests a self-diagnosis app for horses' disease to assist horses' owners to diagnose and treat horses without the presence of veterinarians by applying design research methods. An online survey was conducted to collect the owner's requirements and made a prototype of the app by using Justinmind tool. The results of the online survey show that most owners are willing to use the app. We also consulted veterinarians and experts and they confirmed that the apps would be useful for diagnosing horses.
