Knowledge and Attitude of Female Students Regarding Research Ethics at Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences?Al Qurayyat and Jouf University
Abstract
Background: Research ethics involve requirements on daily work, the protection of dignity of subjects and the publication of the information in the research. Medical professional researches involved a human participant that needs to be guided by basics of ethical principles to ensure the protection of their rights and welfare. Aim of the study: to assess knowledge and Attitude of female students regarding research ethics at Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences. Research design: A descriptive cross-sectional research design was utilized in this study Setting: The study was conducted at the Faculty of Applied Medical Science from the period of 20/5/1439 to 5/7/1439 H. Tools of data collection: Self-administered questionnaire was used. Results: The most self-reported degree of knowledge of the participants was heading towards low and very low especially the items related to principles and issues of research ethics, some of practices were accepted and others not soured from its ethical acceptability especially related to informed consent and vulnerable group participation. Conclusion and Recommendations: The study identified areas of unsatisfactory knowledge and practices towards ethical issues in research conduct. Research ethics need to be familiar and strengthen through mandatory education and continuous training either with under or postgraduates.
