Abstract

This study aimed to identify the effectiveness of an personal learning environment based on augmented reality in developing some skills of computer thinking among female students in the first grade of secondary school. the researcher used the semi- experimental method with two groups. the study sample contained 30 female students in the first grade of secondary school, whom studied the curriculum of computer and data technique the experimental group contained 15 female students from the study sample, whom were taught by using the personal learning environment based on augmented reality. And the control group contained 15 female students, whom were taught by using the traditional way. the researcher applied the two tools of the study: the achievement test to measure the cognitive aspect, and the note card to measure the performance skills to develop some skills of computer thinking: (Algorithmic thinking, analysis, simulation), pre and post for both of the experimental and control groups. according to the results of the study, there were significant statistical differences at the indicator level of (α ≤ 0.05) between the averages of the degrees of the experimental and control group, in post applying of achievement test related to cognitive aspect, and note card related to measuring the performance aspect for the skills of computer thinking toward the experimental group, in addition to the connective relationship between the averages of the female students of experimental group in post applying for both of achievement test related to the cognitive aspect, and note card related to the performance aspect. due to the results, the study proved the effectiveness of the personal learning environment based on augmented reality in developing some skills of computer thinking, among female students in the first grade of secondary school. the study also recommended to adopt the using of personal learning environment based on the augmented reality for teaching the computer and date technology, to develop the skills of computer thinking among female students, and setting educational and training courses for female teachers in order to train them on designing and using the personal learning environment based on the augmented reality and apply it in the educational process.
