The “Hand as Foot” teaching method in laparoscopic relation between cystic artery and cystic duct during laparoscopic cholecystectomy
Abstract
The “Hand as Foot” teaching methodology was developed by Liu
Rui's team as a unique educational tool.1 By using this method the
Anatomical structures and professional terms are well explained,
also it enhances students' learning initiative and aids in understanding
and memorization, 10%e20% of adults in the United States
have gallstones, making them a very prevalent condition. Laparoscopic
cholecystectomy now is the recommended treatment option
for symptomatic gallstone disease. Identification of cystic duct (CD)
and cystic artery (CA) prior to ligation and division always
remained the center of attraction, as complications were closely
related to this step. Increased efforts in awareness, education, and
training have aided in reducing the risks of Laparoscopic
cholecystectomy2
