Jouf University Holds “Colleges and Deanships Indicators” Workshop to Enhance Its Position in International Rankings and the National SAQR Classification

In line with its strategic plan for institutional transformation and qualitative excellence, Jouf University organized a workshop titled “Colleges and Deanships Indicators”, attended by the University President, Prof. Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Shaya, alongside the university’s vice presidents, deans of colleges, and heads of supporting deanships.

The workshop aimed to improve the quality of academic and administrative operations and boost the university’s readiness to achieve high positions in both national and international rankings. Discussions focused on performance indicators related to the university’s colleges and deanships in alignment with the strategic plan, as well as the “SAQR” national classification indicators overseen by the Education and Training Evaluation Commission.

The session also included reviews of each unit’s performance based on approved indicators and explored opportunities for improvement and development, including gap analysis and benchmarking against best national practices.

At the beginning of the workshop, Dr. Al-Shaya emphasized that national and international rankings have become a reliable reflection of the effectiveness of higher education institutions, serving as scientific tools to measure the quality of outcomes and the extent of universities’ contributions to national development.

He further stressed that Jouf University places high priority on these rankings, utilizing them as strategic tools to enhance performance, improve program efficiency, and foster an environment of research and innovation.

Dr. Al-Shaya also highlighted the importance of cultivating a culture of metrics and continuous improvement through an institutional approach to data collection, analysis, and transparency. He emphasized that the current phase requires integrated work across all sectors of the university to ensure meaningful impact and to strengthen the university’s position on both the national and global excellence map. He added that these indicators must tangibly reflect on the quality of education to ensure that Jouf University graduates are fully qualified for the labor market.

The meeting also addressed mechanisms for institutional performance development based on classification results, strategies for improving the efficiency of academic and administrative resources, and aligning college and deanship plans with the university’s strategic goals — particularly in the areas of education quality, learning outcomes, scientific research, community service, and governance.

Jouf University’s participation in the national Saqr Classification reflects its commitment to applying quality and excellence standards across all its operations and its ongoing pursuit of institutional performance improvement — all in support of Saudi Vision 2030 and its objectives to advance higher education and enhance the global competitiveness of Saudi universities.
